About the Journal

Caucasus Journal of Social Sciences (CJSS) (e-ISSN: 2960-9380) is an international, peer-reviewed, Diamond Open Access journal published in English by The University of Georgia, Tbilisi. Established in 2008, the journal has provided free online access to its published content since its inception. Beginning with the 2023 publishing year, CJSS adopted its current Diamond Open Access publishing model and the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, aligning its publishing practices with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

CJSS provides an interdisciplinary platform for research in anthropology, archaeology, economics, education, geography, history, digital social sciences, international relations, law, linguistics, political science, psychology, and sociology. While the journal maintains a strong interest in the Caucasus region, it welcomes submissions from global contexts, particularly those that engage with broader theoretical, comparative, and methodological debates.

The journal prioritizes rigorously conducted research grounded in sound scientific methodology and subject to a double-blind peer review process. It seeks contributions that offer analytically robust insights into social, political, and economic processes, advancing scholarly understanding beyond descriptive accounts.

CJSS supports interdisciplinary dialogue and the integration of regionally grounded research into wider academic discourse. Special issues dedicated to emerging and significant themes in the social sciences are published periodically.

All content is freely accessible immediately upon publication and is preserved for long-term access through the PKP Preservation Network (LOCKSS). The sections below describe the journal's aims, scope, editorial criteria, and publication practices.

Call for papers for Special Issue

Special Issue of the Caucasus Journal of Social Sciences The Caucasus Journal of Social Sciences, published by the University of Georgia, is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for a special issue dedicated to the inaugural conference of the International Legal Conference Series on EU Law (ILCS–EU Law), entitled:

“Emerging Frontiers in EU Law: Adapting to a Changing Global Landscape” The conference was held at the University of Georgia in Tbilisi on 4–5 June 2026 and brought together scholars and legal professionals to discuss contemporary developments, challenges, and emerging research areas in European Union law. The special issue aims to continue the academic dialogue initiated during the conference and to provide a platform for the publication of original scholarly research concerning current and emerging issues in EU law. Conference participants are invited to submit articles based on their presentations or on related research. Submissions addressing the broader themes of the conference are also welcome.

Submission Period The online submission system will be open from:

1 August 2026 to 15 September 2026
