Online Submission
All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the online submission system of the Caucasus Journal of Social Sciences (CJSS). Submissions sent directly by email will not normally be considered.
Before beginning the submission process, authors should review the Before You Submit, Manuscript Preparation, and Article Types pages and ensure that all required files and information are ready.

Registration and User Account
Authors must have an active user account on the CJSS online submission system.
To create an account, visit the CJSS registration page and complete all required fields accurately.
When registering, please:
- provide your full name as it should appear in scholarly publications;
- enter a valid and regularly monitored email address;
- provide your current institutional affiliation;
- enter your country or region;
- include your ORCID iD;
- select the author role where this option is available;
- create a secure username and password.
Authors who already have an account should not create a duplicate account. Existing users may sign in through the CJSS login page.
Authors are responsible for keeping their profile information current and for protecting the confidentiality of their account credentials.
ORCID iD
CJSS requires an ORCID iD for every author.
ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes individual researchers and supports accurate attribution of scholarly work.
Authors who do not yet have an ORCID iD may register free of charge through the official ORCID registration page.
The ORCID iD should be entered in its complete URL format:
https://orcid.org/0000-0000-0000-0000
Authors should not enter another research identifier, institutional profile, or personal webpage in the ORCID field.
Starting a New Submission
After signing in to the journal platform, open your author dashboard and select New Submission.
The online submission process guides authors through several stages. These normally include:
- Start;
- Upload Submission;
- Enter Metadata;
- Confirmation;
- Next Steps.
Authors should complete every required field carefully. Incomplete submissions may be returned before editorial assessment.
Selecting the Submission Section
At the beginning of the submission process, select the section that corresponds to the manuscript type.
CJSS considers the following categories:
- Research Articles;
- Theoretical Articles;
- Review Articles;
- Scholarly Critiques;
- Commentary Articles.
Authors should consult the Article Types page before choosing a section. The Editorial Office may reclassify a submission where another category is more appropriate.
Confirming the Submission Requirements
Authors must confirm that their manuscript meets all journal requirements before proceeding.
By completing the submission checklist, the corresponding author confirms that:
- the manuscript is original;
- the manuscript has not been published previously, except in circumstances expressly permitted by the journal and fully disclosed to the editors;
- the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal or publisher;
- all authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission;
- all authors meet the journal's authorship requirements;
- all authors have provided an ORCID iD;
- the manuscript complies with the journal's formatting requirements;
- citations and references follow APA Style, Seventh Edition;
- the submission has been anonymised for double-blind peer review;
- all necessary ethical, funding, conflict-of-interest, data, and AI disclosures have been provided;
- permission has been obtained for copyrighted third-party material where required.
Providing inaccurate or misleading information during submission may result in rejection, withdrawal, correction, retraction, or other action under the journal's publication ethics procedures.
Preparing and Uploading Files
Authors should upload each submission component as a separate file and select the appropriate file designation in the submission system.
A standard submission should normally include:
- Anonymous Manuscript: the complete article without author-identifying information;
- Title Page: author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, corresponding-author details, acknowledgements, and relevant declarations;
- Figures: separate high-quality files where applicable;
- Supplementary Material: datasets, questionnaires, appendices, instruments, code, multimedia, or other supporting material where applicable;
- Permissions: documentation authorising the reuse of third-party material where required.
The principal manuscript file should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
File names should be concise and descriptive. To preserve anonymity, the anonymous manuscript file name should not contain an author's name, initials, institution, project name, or other identifying information.
Examples of suitable file names include:
Anonymous_Manuscript.docxTitle_Page.docxFigure_1.pngSupplementary_File_1.xlsx
Ensuring Anonymous Peer Review
CJSS uses double-blind peer review. Authors must therefore remove identifying information from the manuscript and its electronic properties.
Before uploading the anonymous manuscript, confirm that it does not contain:
- author names or initials;
- institutional affiliations;
- email addresses;
- acknowledgements identifying individuals or organisations;
- funding information that directly identifies the authors;
- self-identifying descriptions of previous work;
- tracked changes, comments, or document properties revealing author identity.
Authors should cite their own published work in the same manner as the work of other researchers. Self-citations should not be replaced with terms such as “Author” unless specifically requested by the Editorial Office.
Author-identifying information should appear only on the separately uploaded Title Page and in the submission metadata.
Entering Submission Metadata
Accurate metadata is essential for editorial processing, indexing, discoverability, citation, and long-term preservation.
Authors must enter the following information exactly as it should appear in the published article:
- manuscript title;
- subtitle, where applicable;
- abstract;
- keywords;
- author and co-author details;
- institutional affiliations;
- ORCID iDs;
- references, where requested by the submission system;
- supporting agencies or funding bodies, where applicable.
Do not enter the manuscript title entirely in capital letters unless required for a proper name or acronym.
The abstract entered in the metadata must be identical to the abstract included in the manuscript.
Keywords should be entered individually where the platform provides separate keyword fields. Authors should provide 3–7 precise keywords that represent the manuscript's principal subjects, concepts, geographical areas, or methods.
Authors are responsible for checking the spelling, order, punctuation, capitalisation, and completeness of all metadata before final submission.
Adding Contributors
The corresponding author must add every author as a contributor in the online submission system.
For each contributor, provide:
- given name and family name;
- email address;
- institutional affiliation;
- country or region;
- ORCID iD;
- author role, where requested.
Authors must be entered in the correct publication order. The order entered in the submission system should match the order shown on the Title Page.
Individuals who do not satisfy the journal's authorship criteria should not be added as authors. Their contributions may instead be recognised in the acknowledgements, subject to their permission.
Changes to authorship after submission, including the addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors, require a written explanation and the agreement of all affected authors. The journal may decline authorship changes that are not adequately justified.
Required Declarations
Authors must provide all declarations relevant to their manuscript. These may be included on the Title Page, in the manuscript, in the submission metadata, or in another location specified by the journal.
Required declarations may include:
- Funding: identify all financial and material support or state that no specific funding was received;
- Conflicts of Interest: disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the work;
- Ethical Approval: identify the approving ethics committee, institution, approval number, and approval date where applicable;
- Informed Consent: confirm that informed consent was obtained where research involved identifiable human participants or personal information;
- Data Availability: explain where and under what conditions the supporting data may be accessed;
- Author Contributions: describe each author's contribution, preferably using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT);
- Artificial Intelligence Use: disclose any use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in accordance with the journal's Artificial Intelligence Policy;
- Acknowledgements: recognise individuals or organisations that contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
Where a declaration does not apply, authors should provide an appropriate statement, such as:
Funding: This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.
Conflict of Interest: The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest.
Data Availability: The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
Authors should ensure that declarations entered in the submission system are consistent with those included in the manuscript files.
Comments for the Editor
The submission system allows authors to provide comments for the Editorial Office.
Authors may use this field to:
- briefly explain the manuscript's relevance to CJSS;
- disclose related manuscripts, preprints, conference versions, translations, or previous dissemination;
- identify information that requires confidential editorial consideration;
- explain justified deviations from the Author Guidelines;
- provide other information necessary for evaluating the submission.
Comments for the editor are not normally shared with peer reviewers.
CJSS does not use author-suggested reviewers. Authors should therefore not submit reviewer nominations unless specifically requested by the Editorial Office.
Completing the Submission
Before selecting Finish Submission, review the complete submission record carefully.
Confirm that:
- all required files have been uploaded;
- the correct file designations have been selected;
- the anonymous manuscript does not reveal author identity;
- all authors have been entered in the correct order;
- all ORCID iDs and affiliations are accurate;
- the title, abstract, and keywords are complete;
- all required declarations have been provided;
- the submission checklist has been completed truthfully.
Once the submission is complete, select the final confirmation option. The manuscript will then be transmitted to the Editorial Office.
Submission Confirmation
After completing the submission, the corresponding author should receive an automated confirmation email.
The submitted manuscript will also appear in the author's online dashboard. Authors can use the dashboard to:
- view the submission record;
- follow the editorial status;
- read editorial messages;
- upload requested revisions;
- participate in copyediting and proofreading after acceptance.
If no confirmation email is received, authors should first check their spam or junk-mail folder and then verify the submission status through the online dashboard.
Submission does not constitute acceptance for publication. Every manuscript remains subject to editorial assessment and, where applicable, peer review.
Submitting a Revised Manuscript
Revised manuscripts must be uploaded through the existing submission record. Authors should not begin a new submission for a revised version unless expressly instructed by the Editorial Office.
A revision should normally include:
- a clean revised manuscript;
- a marked or tracked-changes version, where requested;
- a detailed response to reviewers and editors;
- revised supplementary files, where applicable.
The response document should address every reviewer and editor comment individually. Authors should explain where each change has been made and provide a clear scholarly justification where a recommendation has not been followed.
Author-identifying information must not be included in files that will be made available to reviewers.
Authors should submit revisions within the deadline stated in the editorial decision. Where additional time is required, the corresponding author should contact the Editorial Office before the deadline expires.
Editorial Communication
All official communication regarding a submission is sent to the corresponding author through the journal platform and the email address registered in the author's profile.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
- monitoring editorial messages;
- responding within the requested timeframe;
- sharing relevant communications with all co-authors;
- informing the Editorial Office of any change in contact information;
- ensuring that all co-authors approve revisions and final publication materials.
Authors should quote the manuscript identification number in correspondence concerning an active submission.
Technical Assistance
Authors experiencing technical difficulties with registration, file upload, metadata entry, or access to an existing submission should contact the CJSS Editorial Office.
When requesting assistance, please provide:
- your full name;
- registered email address;
- manuscript title;
- submission identification number, where available;
- a concise description of the problem;
- a screenshot of any error message, where useful.
Authors may access the journal platform through the CJSS website.
Authors should not submit the same manuscript repeatedly when experiencing a technical problem, as this may create duplicate submission records.
