Abstract

This research delves into the multifaceted dynamics of Georgian nationalism within the ecclesiastical and state spheres, probing the intricacies of power, authority, and identity. Central to the inquiry is an exploration of the Church’s engagement with sovereignty, wherein traditional and contemporary manifestations of authority intersect.  The study traces the historical roots of Georgian nationalism, examining its evolution and entanglement with religious discourse. It scrutinizes central texts and events, including the canonization of Ilia Chavchavadze, to clarify the complex interplay between nationalism, religion, and statecraft. Through meticulous analysis, this research unveils the challenges posed by nationalist ideologies to individual freedoms and societal cohesion.
