About Nino Chikovani

Dr. Nino Chikovani is a distinguished scholar in Cultural Studies and serves as a Professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). She is also the Head of the Institute of Cultural Studies, where she leads interdisciplinary research and academic initiatives in the field.

With a Doctor of Historical Sciences degree, Dr. Chikovani's research focuses on collective and cultural memory, memory politics, historical perception and representation, identity construction, and intercultural communication. She has led and participated in numerous research and teaching projects funded by prestigious organizations, including Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, UNESCO, TEMPUS, DAAD, COBERM, Volkswagen Foundation, AUF, Heinrich Boell Foundation South Caucasus Office, and the International Visegrad Foundation.

Her ongoing research projects include "Construction of the Collective Memory in Georgia after Independence: The Discourse of Hero and Antihero" and "Jewish Identity in Georgia: The Soviet Transformation (1921-1941)", both funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation.

Publications & Editorial Work

Dr. Chikovani has published over 60 scientific articles and book chapters in local and international editions and has authored three monographs. She is the Head of the Editorial Board of the international scientific journal "Civilization Researches" (indexed in EBSCO) and serves on the Scientific Council of the international peer-reviewed journal "Culture and Dialogue" (Brill Publishers).
